Bodelwyddan Game Anglers (BGA)

Welcome you to Fish the Lakes and Rivers of North Wales.

North Wales must have some of the finest fishing in the British Isles, for many of the rivers and lakes are within the Snowdonia National Park.

Bodelwyddan Game Anglers are very fortunate to have limited control of some of these waters.

Rivers include the River Conwy which is famed for its salmon and sea trout. The River Clwyd and its major tributary the River Elwy, which are amongst the best rivers around for sea trout, or sewin as it is known locally, night fishing is always the best time for this quarry, from June onwards given the right amount of rain fall. All the above rivers hold an abundant head of wild brown trout, however, it is our beat on the River Cledwen that is the purists dream when fly fishing for really wild brown trout.

Anglers are reminded you must have E A license which gives you the right to use a fishing rod and line, but does not give you the right to fish. You must always check that you have the permit to fish that particular water.

Bodelwyddan Game Anglers have lakes near the coast and also a 40 acre lake in the heart Snowdonia. This is reached via a forest road which takes you through beautiful scenery to the water's edge, where you can practice your skills with fly, worm, or spinner for brown trout also Arctic Char.

Hafod Pools, contain coarse fish and rainbow trout, used mainly by less able anglers who may fish with worm or fly.

As we come much nearer to the North Wales coast we have Tai Lake, 3 acres, which holds rainbow and brown trout to around 8lbs. This is a very comfortable lake, with various seating areas around the edge, it is well sheltered with trees, and has a number of wildfowl for company. A fisherman's hut contains a visitor’s book which anglers are asked to sign, also parking at lakeside for the disabled anglers.
